Christopher Otten is a husband, father, and a Lutheran Pastor, who lives and works in South Texas, about 10 miles north of the city of Reynosa, Mexico. Christopher grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, and still counts the mountains of Appalachia as one of his favorite get-aways. He considers Carolina Pork BBQ to be the ONLY true BBQ — any other so-called “barbecue” is just a wannabe basted or smoked meat. Black coffee, sweet tea, and Kentucky bourbon are his favorite drinks. As you can tell, Christopher has never lost his taste for the south, even while attending college in New York and graduate school in St. Louis, Missouri.
Christopher was ordained in 1995 at Hope Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and has worked with churches in the Washington DC area, Hawaii, Ohio, and currently, Texas. In addition to being a pastor, Christopher also worked briefly as a hospice chaplain as well as an Adjunct Professor at the College of Southern Maryland and as an Air Force Chaplain. He is currently assigned to the 149th Fighter Wing, Texas Air National Guard. Christopher lives with his wife, Marianne, son, Elliott, and two Pomeranian dogs, Ignatius and Augustus. He is the Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church & School in McAllen, Texas.

Happy New Year Pastor Chris , Marianne and Elliott. We still miss you at St. Paul Westlake but are sure you are a blessing to St. Paul, McAllen.
I like your choice of dogs since my ancestors are from Pomerania( Rehwinkel, Saatzig Parish).
Really like being able to stay in touch via the internet. ( It’s not as good as in person though!!)
Dick & Jane
Hi Dick and Jane! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for staying in touch through Facebook. The internet can be good for something! I miss you too, but I don’t miss the snow (OK. Maybe just a smidgen, some days).
We are well. Elliott wanted a dog for Christmas. So Ignatius (14 yrs old; 11 lb.) has now been joined by Augustus (4 months old; 3.3 lb). Two Otten dogs now, with very big names for such a small breed. I call them “Iggy” and “Auggie.” I am glad that they are smart enough to know their vowels and, therefore, their names as well.
My love to you both. God’s abundant blessings + CLO
